Yahoo!'s Go for Mobile 2.0 and oneSearch and Google's Google Maps are evidence that Yahoo! is making a global play to beat Google in the mobile content market. Yahoo! announced new distribution agreements with Research in Motion (RIM), Nokia, Sony, Samsung, 3Group, and Opera Software. Mobile devices now are twelve times more numerous than PCs globally, and Yahoo!'s strategy is to redefine mobile search with its oneSearch, a service designed to give users answers instantly. By the end of 2007, Yahoo! wants to have oneSearch available throughout its Mobile Web and SMS services, and the service will be available in various countries and languages in future months. oneSearch would, for instance, allow a consumer to enter New York Yankees into a search box and to see results that list first the score of the most recent game and information on the next scheduled game, followed by content, such as a team roster, official Web site, photos, and related news articles. The Local and Maps features provide access to a local directory, interactive maps, driving directions, and real-time traffic updates. A spokesperson for Nokia said The availability of Yahoo! Go 2.0 for Nokia most popular mass-market devices will allow millions of consumers to unlock the power of their Nokia Series 40 devices.
