Facebooks and Jobsters namesake web-based offerings are allying to streamline the tasks required of job seekers to create job search profiles online. News Corp.'s MySpace also added a basic job search engine last year that is run by Simply Hired. Over the past year, Jobster.com added features meant to attract job seekers between 18 and 35 years of age, and part of the effort was the addition to the site of social networking features that make it easier for job hunters to connect with current hires at companies. Users, who include job hunters and employers, can now also tag specific skills or interests in profiles so that they are highly obvious to recruiters or job seekers seeking specific positions. Last May, Facebook started to allow users to log in with work e-mail addresses for connectivity with fellow employees. The new career site will be available through Facebook.com, but Facebook and Jobster have not provided details on the agreement and how the site will be integrated with Facebook. Jobster, which wants to add the social networking features to its site, wants to offer not only job listings, but to also provide tools that assist in linking recruiters with job seekers. A partnership with Facebook permits Jobster to reach a younger demographic that might not otherwise visit sites with job listings. Facebook will make sure that everything available is seemly, says Owen Van Natta of Facebook.
