Autodesks Media and Entertainment Division has added a new product to the Lustre line of color grading solutions, the Lustre HD Station. Luster HD Station has adopted almost the complete Luster Master Station toolset, but can only store files with up to 10-bit 2K resolution on import and HD, or SD resolution on output. One Lustre HD Station package consists of a full workstation with storage and panels. It is designed for television series, commercials and independent films. Autodesk Lustre HD Station 2007, the newest Lustre model of any of the Autodesk products, features higher degree of reliance on GPU processing to perform real-time capabilities, dual-monitor grading function, compatibility with interlaced videos and the Autodesk Control Surface. Autodesk has added a lot of features to address problems specific to the workflow of the targeted user. For example, Lustre offers some functions that are important to commercial workflow. Lustre HD Station has many UI shortcuts to do the task of color grading a whole film or TV show. There is a bin where the user can save corrections of specific shots, and clips from show can be viewed as thumbnails in a bin. It is possible to apply a single correction to several clips by choosing grouping all similar clips. This functionality is a very helpful tool, but Lustre HD Station does not have a group of function buttons where it is possible for stored settings to be previewed and applied with one click. In addition, Lustre has a few simple editorial tools, but it is not an editor or a compositor.
