Users expect enterprise search to be available, and Google Inc. and ISYS Search Software are working to perfect their enterprise offerings to meet demand. Google's Search Appliance 4.6.4 has been improved since its introduction. The system can now reach deeper into relationship databases and file shares. Additionally, users can push information that is not accessible via the Web from portals and other internal systems to the appliance by using code that is based on Google Enterprise APIs. Testers were especially impressed by the new One Box for Enterprise offering. This is a set of APIs that allow users to access business applications like customer relationship management (CRM) and business intelligence (BI) systems in a secure manner from the Google search box. This information will then be presented separately from the public search results. Dell makes the Google Search Appliance. The box is relatively easy to set up, and the Administrative Console interface is a collection of basic webpages and forms accessed from a navigation tree. The appliance offers an integrated hardware and software approach that provides a single point for finding information within corporate networks. ISYS:web8 from ISYS Search Software includes desktop search and can search intranets, websites, and portals. It is also an SDK. Testers found deployment to be fast, and the rapid prototyping tools make it easy to customize the way the results appear.
