The number of tax software vendors has dwindled in recent years, leading to increased competition for end-users. In order to attract new customers, many vendors are lowering their prices and offering incentives for professional accountants to switch brands. Petz Enterprises, for example, is conducting what it refers to as its 'Switch Campaign.' Customers who buy its CrossLink software will be able to obtain all state and federal tax forms for a set fee. Another aggressive marketing campaign to entice customers to switch is being conducted by ATX/Kleinrock, which has mailed out approximately 100,000 copies of its 2005 tax software application, so that people can try it before buying. TaxWise is offering tax practitioners a scaled-down version of its Pro Business software. This is aimed at customers who do not need forms for up to five states, the number of states included in the Pro Business and Specialty Package. TaxWise has also significantly lowered its price on its products. In an attempt to compete with ATX and TaxWise, Intuit is offering a professional 1040 tax package with its ProSeries software for a set fee. The bundle includes all state and federal individual tax forms. Other vendors of professional tax packages include Lacerte Software, Orrtax, RIA, TaxSimple, TaxWorks, Creative Solutions, Greatland, CCH, and Drake Software.
