EQO's namesake application suite that extends Skype to mobile phones, iotum Corp.'s Relevance Engine, and Frucall's namesake voice commerce service are highlighted as solutions that extend the abilities of mobile communications and enrich the user experience as well. Companies IPcelerate and Tello are also companies that have products and services that link older technologies with newer ones and also offer inventive new abilities that make communications more manageable, efficient, and informative. EQO won the award as Most Promising Start-Up at the British Columbia Technology Impact Awards ceremony and provides EQO Mobile and EQO PC. EQC Mobile is a Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) application that runs on the mobile phone, and EQO PC is a plug-in that runs on the PC to connect a Skype user account to a mobile phone through the EQO secure, always-on network. An EQO account has to be created, and both applications must be installed. The iotum Relevance Engine is the first available smart platform to prioritize all voice communications with mapping of inbound communications to work behavior and priorities. The service significantly enhances productivity by making sure that inbound communications are relevant. Frucall uses Voice XML and speech technology to permit shoppers to check the Internet for the lowest prices of items being viewed live in the aisle of a retail store. An 888 toll free number is called from the cellphone, and, when, the right price has been found, the item can be purchased from Amazon or other partner shopping sites, which are being added often. Frucall is also talking with CNET to use its excellent pricing engine.
