XML compression techniques to overcome Services-Oriented Architecture (SOA) performance issues focus on XML hardware, compact representation, XML cache or parsers, software compression and binary XML standards. XML has become the basis for all Web Services standards. XML-based representations perform data interchange between service providers and requestors SOA. Various programs across numerous platforms use different data formats. Challenges concerning semantic interoperability are addressed by XML. While XML facilitates data exchange, it has also increased data storage, data transfer times and parsing times. In effect, it has challenged SOA performance. Compression techniques solve the issues on storage and transfer. On the other hand, hardware and software solutions answer the issues on overhead cost. One way is to use XML.accelerators, which are specialized hardware that speed up time-consuming tasks. Another is compact representation. It may entail representing XML in a binary format. Caching data that are used repeatedly can reduce XML processing overhead. Text compressors such as gzip and bzip can also compress software. Additional options include schemas that solve the problem of containing binary data into an XML message. MTOM and Resource Representation SOAP Header Block (RRSHB) are two of these.
