Motion Computing's LS800 Tablet PC is marketed as an ultramobile slate and is based on the 1.2GHz Pentium ULV (ultralow-voltage) processor with 512MB of double-data-rate SDRAM and a 1.8-inch, 30GB hard drive for system storage. The LCD interface is the central interface and is an 8.4-inch SVGA thin-film transistor display with 800x600-pixel resolution. Wacom Technology is responsible for the touchscreen system, which has a passive stylus that needs no batteries and sends out no internally generated signals. Signals are scanned into an X-Y matrix board, and a small controller board is populated with a Wacom ASIC that does mixed signal sending and sensing. A swipe-style fingerprint reader allows raining for users sets of validated fingerprints for gaining access to the LS800. The SLD9630 Infineon Trusted Compute Platform chip adds more security by storing keys, passwords, and digital certificates that, in theory, identify the host platform as a trusted device and provide necessary keys for digital rights management, among other things. An array of global and local power supplies manage energy, and the use of the ULV chip set and power control allow elimination of fans for cooling.
