Tom Taylor, the teenage operator of the Web site called Gaming-lesson.com where players can schedule lessons in Microsoft's Halo 2 and Nintendo's Super Smash Brothers Melee games, provides game skill tutors with an average age of 19. Mr. Taylor himself is 18 years of age. Clients pay per hour for individual lessons, based on the skill level of the instructor and demand for his services. Gaming-lesson.com reports that its most tender-aged instructor is Victor De Leon III (or Lil Poison when online), who is eight years old and has given a few lessons each month since late in 2005. Among those who have improved their gaming skills is Richard Jefferson, forward with the New Jersey Nets. Craig Levine also runs E-Sports Entertainment Association. They have collectively provided about 3,000 hours of lessons since the launch of the Web-based business. At Gaming-lesson.com, those who sign up for a lesson pay for lessons or packages of lessons with a specific instructor, and they pay through PayPal. Mr. Taylor wears a headset to communicate with the student when teaching, and Mr. Estalotte says the lessons are a good value because they save him time.
