In this day of technological wizardry, some people feel a bit overwhelmed by all the information that is instantly available at the click of a mouse button or remote control of their television sets. There seems to be information instantly available to the masses on just about every subject under the sun. If a subject or issue can be dreamed up, it is sure to have its own place on the Internet, be it a Web log (blog), online editorial, or help site. Some people fondly remember a seemingly simpler time when television had three main broadcast channels, and rabbit ears were required for decent reception. Nowadays, many homes are equipped with the latest home theater systems, which come equipped with giant screens, surround sound, and powerful speakers. Many people subscribe to cable or satellite TV, getting over 150 channels. Even with so many channels to choose from, people often are left with the feeling that nothing worth watching is on. So they switch over to their DVD players and watch the latest rental movie, or they sit down to play the latest video game. It is a task in itself to learn how to use the remote controls that go with all these gadgets, much less to know all the pros and cons of the various video inputs and outputs. Another area that is changing the way people live is the cell phone. Mobile phones keep us constantly connected to others, no matter if we're in the grocery store or bathroom. They not only provide telephony capabilities, but also instant messaging, e-mail, digital still cameras, and text messaging. Technology has indeed changed our lives forever.
