PC World Test Center evaluated several new LCD television sets, including the Vizio L32HDTV, the Sony Bravia KDL-V32XBR1, and the Samsung LN-S3251D. All of the tested models can be run in either high-definition mode (HDTV) or standard-definition mode (SDTV). The 'Best Buy' was awarded to the Samsung LN-S3251D, which earned an overall rating of 82, or 'Very Good'. Its overall design was judged to be good. Image quality was judged to be very good for DVD playback, SDTV, and HDTV. Its screen resolution measures 1366-by-768 pixels. It has 1 ATSC tuner and 1 NTSC tuner. One drawback, however, is that it does not come with any CableCard slot. The Vizio L32HDTV earned an overall rating of 78, or 'Good'. Its overall design was judged to be very good. Image quality was judged to be very good for DVD playback. Both SDTV and HDTV image quality received 'good' ratings. Several of the testers felt that the Vizio's default settings resulted in the picture being too dark, however. DVD playback featured realistic flesh tones. It likewise does not come with a CableCard slot. The Sony Bravia KDL-V32XBR1 earned an overall rating of 74, or 'Good'. DVD playback and HDTV image quality were judged to be good, while SDTV image quality was judged to be very good. Its overall design is very good, and it comes with a CableCard slot.
