PlayFirst's Diner Dash and Diner Dash 2 are fun sites for women who need a break from their daily routines. A virtual version of the actual San Francisco, California, Sunset District's Darlas will be able to play versions of Darla's in the online game Diner Dash. The first Diner Dash, which became available last year and has attracted hundreds of thousands of players, was indisputable evidence of the wide popularity of casual online games. Such online games as puzzles, word scrambles, arcade, and card games, as well as Diner Dash are easy to learn and play a few minutes at a time. The market is expected to have a value of more than $1 billion in the next three to five years, says Yankee Group, and the expansion is mostly from women, many of whom are 35 and more. Microsoft has found that games are a nice break from work and help them to increase productivity. In the first Diner Dash, a stockbroker lady quits and opens a restaurant. The player earns point for competing good preparation and service responsibilities. In Diner Dash 2, the friendly and casual atmosphere at the real Darla's is reproduced virtually, says Chris Bennett, producer of Diner Dash. Not all the details from the restaurant could be included, but the outdoor cafe in the game looks like Darla's back patio. Diner Dash, says Darla's owner Darla Kubala, is very realistic because it requires the virtual owner, Flo, to manage impatient dining guests, which is not an unusual requirement during busy times at Darlas.
