PleaseReview 3.0 from Kcentrix Software (now PleaseTech)is an easy-to-use, flexible, and elegant collaboration platform, which lets groups work on Microsoft Word documents via a Web browser, thereby obviating the need to use Words often-awkward Track Changes capability. Because everything is done in the browser, a copy of Microsoft Word is unnecessary, which makes PleaseReview a good fit for businesses with a combination of office productivity suites and desktop operating systems, or in situations where older versions of Office are running that do not offer support for Track Changes. Document authors have more responsibility for the management of the comment and revision process, so firms should offer training on how PleaseReview works, as well as put forth guidelines for handling open comments when closing out a document. A useful feature of the offering is that all Word metadata is stripped out, so there is no possibility of leaving open comments in place accidentally. Notification options are also included, which let users set reminder dates for a particular project. On the downside, PleaseReview could use a few more workflow capabilities and options. For example, when a review is closed, it cannot be restarted if a further review is required. Another missing feature is a sign-off capability, which would ensure that everyone involved has given their review and approval of the document.
