Microsofts new 2007 Microsoft Office system family of products, previously called Office 12, is set to be released before the end of 2006. The offerings will be comprised of 34 suites, servers, programs, services and tools. Office Professional Plus 2007 will have a host of improvements including the addition of server-enabled capabilities that will give users the ability to perform tasks such as document routing and approval, easier publishing of spreadsheets, and the creation and distribution of electronic forms. The package will also include 2007 versions of Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, and InfoPath. A new addition will be the enterprise instant messaging client called Office Communicator. The Office Enterprise 2007 suite will contain all the applications offered in Office Professional Plus as well as Office Groove and Office OneNote, offerings which are targeted at intense collaboration and mobility. Both Office suites will be available only via the companys volume licensing programs. The new Office Groove Server 2007 will provide tools for deployment, management, and integration of Office Groove 2007 across the enterprise. Microsoft Office Project Portfolio Server 2007 is a portfolio management governance solution that will allow users to create portals and publish content to them, give them the document routing and approval processes, and allow for searching across servers in the enterprise.
