The release of Macromedia Studio 8 from Adobe Systems does not bring many changes to the suite's look and feel, but some products have been included with the suite that were previously available separately. There are many incremental changes that, taken together, add significant value to the product. The decision to upgrade depends on several factors, such as the last time an upgrade was performed and whether users want to wait and see how the merger between Adobe and Macomedia plays out. Studio 8 includes Dreamweaver 8, Flash Professional 8, and Fireworks 8. It now also includes Contribute 3 and FlashPaper 2.The additional of these products makes for a more complete workflow for users. Freehand, however, has been eliminated from the suite. This was expected, since the product had been left out of the MX upgrade that began in 2002. Studio 8 comes with a dual install disk for Mac and Windows, which gives a team the ability to develop across both platforms without having to buy two separate packages. It takes up a lot of space, but with this many programs, this is expected. A full install takes up 1.8 GB on the hard drive. The package also includes HomeSite 5.5 and ColdFusion MX Developer Edition on separate disk. Adobe has returned to providing a paper manual as well as a PDF version of the document on the install disks or Help menu. There are no training videos included with Studio 8.
