Ulead has released PhotoImpact 11, the newest version of its image editing suite. The new version has a new layout with a My Workspace interface that allows users to choose between a number of preset layouts that include tools appropriate for their level of expertise and for the current project. The presets include Basic Photo mode, Graphics mode, Web mode, Standard Photo mode, and Advanced mode. Custom layouts can also be created based on specific needs. The Object Extraction Wizard lets users extract an object and move it to a new background. The Smart Curves feature automatically performs image adjustment and high-quality corrections to tone on the basis of the user's specific camera. A new addition to the product's cloning tools is the Touch-up Tool, which allows users to select how much color they want to clone and how much texture they want to use. Edges are automatically blended. PhotoImpact 11 retains previous tools that have proved useful time and again, including the Browse Management, which allows viewing of all photos within a folder at the same time. It is simple to import photos from a camera, cropping or removing red-eye, and users can send photos via e-mail with a single click. The photo will be automatically compressed in JPEG format to reduce its size for e-mailing. The Document Manager lets users view any documents that are open, while Screen Capture works via one key. PhotoImpact comes with software for additional programs as well: Album, Photo Explorer, GIF Animator, and Ulead Cool 360. It also comes with 3,000 royalty-free images, 2,600 Web elements, and 2,500 effects that can be customized. PhotoImpact 11 provides an excellent value for the price.
