In its never-ending competition with rivals Google, AOL, and MSN, Yahoo! is looking to make major changes in its e-mail and instant messenger services, as well as its photo-sharing, mobile, community, and blogging offerings. The Yahoo! Mail beta offering, codenamed Candygram, allows e-mail account holders to search attachments and view thumbnail images of documents and pictures in their e-mail messages. A new feature called PhotoMail allows users to insert as many as 300 images in the body of an e-mail, without having to worry about attachment limits. A new look and feel has also been designed, with Yahoo! Mail acting more like a desktop client application with drag-and-drop capabilities. Yahoo! has also introduced its Yahoo! Messenger with Voice, which utilizes technology from its purchase of the Dialpad Internet telephony service. The offering now provides computer-to-computer calls at no charge, free voicemail, tools for creating buddy lists, improved spam protection, and photo sharing. Users can also play interactive games and share photos in real time. Yahoo! has also partnered with Sprint Nextel and a proprietary client to bring Yahoo! Mail on cell phones to allow users enhanced access to their Yahoo! e-mail and instant messages on mobile devices.
