Kazeon's Kazeon IS 1200 (Information Server 1200) meets the requirements of retailers who need to know which type of data is on a network-attached storage system (NAS) system. National and industrial regulations require that retailers know whether there is private information, including social security or credit card numbers, in documents on a NAS, particularly if they are not protected. Advantages of Kazeon ISI200, which crawls and classifies all the information in stored files, include indexing of documents on Network File System (NFS) and CIFS shares, automated document classification through scripting, and automatic file reorganization. Drawbacks include an architecture in which understanding of document ownership is closely coupled with file system options, limited search abilities for end users, and lack of reporting for end users through a Web interface. The ISI 1200 is a 1U, dual Xeon processor softpliance (software delivered on standard hardware) with 2GB RAM and dual gigabit Ethernet network interface cards (NICs). The Kazeon software runs on top of a stripped down Linux distribution and has a command line interface not unlike that of Cisco IOS. Testers first configured metadata and file systems and then crawled jobs. Classification and reports can be scheduled by the hour, day, week, or month, and also on-demand. During testing, the IS 1200 performed as described and demonstrated an ability to copy and move files based on metadata tags to clean up a local NAS efficiently.
