ZoomInfo.com's ZoomInfo provides excellent results for those who want to search for their own name and other names and companies on the Web. The site provides profiles of over 26.6 million people. The one-of-a-kind summarization search engine finds, understands and extracts the latest online information about people and companies and instantly delivers it in concise and useful summaries, says the ZoomInfo Web site. In its FAQ section, ZoomInfo says it automatically and continually expands its base of Web Summaries from corporate and personal Web sites, government filings, and resources releases. All information comes from public sources and can be located by anyone using most major search engines, such as Yahoo! and Google. A brief review in the Web Watch section of The Guardian calls ZoomInfo more effective than Google because it aggregates hundreds of thousands of hits down to about 30-50 people. However, says the review, ZoomInfo needs much more time to build a very accurate database that would be regarded as a definitive source for people's profiles. Another review by Search Engine Watch points out that ZoomInfo uses machine algorithms only and is therefore only a machine-based guess at gathering of anecdotal information about individuals. ZoomInfo's tools are described, including its links to Web references, e-mailing located people, forwarding, linking, and printing summaries, exporting of summaries to a contact manager, and controlling Web Identity through ZoomInfo with the This is me link after a free registration.
