Tableau Software's Tableau Standard Edition 1.0, a low-cost front-end for business intelligence (BI) tasks, gets very good marks overall, especially for timeliness and value. This model is unique in its ability to strip away some crucial barriers to analysis. Tableau Standard Edition 1.0 is easily deployed and mostly user-friendly to use. With Tableau Standard Edition 1.0, many users will find new ways to deploy BI. Most products for acquisitions processes use vertical integration, which is a good choice for buyers committed to one vendor data warehouse or integrated BI suite. However, acquisition through vertical integration can be complex, especially if the vendor does not have a BI client at all or lacks one that meets the needs of the client. In those instances, the purchase of needed components can be expensive. In comparison, Tableau Standard Edition 1.0 and two other versions are off-the-shelf product that cost less and link to many back-end data sources. The client is the Hyperion Visual Explorer WYSIWYG, which is easy to use. The Excel-like interface is for analysts with business knowledge. Connectivity is easy for the category, with good guidance from dialog boxes. Installation and configuration were fast. If the user is willing to dedicate development resources to Tableau Standard Edition 1.0, the software can be extended through the VizQL declarative programming language. Tableau deserves the immediate attention of any organization looking to deploy lightweight BI tools that are easy to buy, deploy, and maintain.
