Pantero's Pantero 1.3 is recommended for its ability to support sharing of data services. The following tools are provided for development and deployment of shared data services: Designer, Engine, and ExchangeModel. Pantero Designer is an extension to BEA Weblogic Workshop, which permits users to develop data services. The Pantero Engine executes services, including management of logging and runtime metadata. The engine runs on BEA WebLogic Server and IBM WebSphere Application Server. A semantic model of the data called the ExchangeModel is used to reconcile differences between data formats and models among entities. Users can start building an exchange model by creating a basic common model. This is a user-friendly process with a set of import wizards that can bootstrap a model with an XML Schema, database schema, or UML model. Then schemas can be imported to define data sources and data service. The user can then add simple and computed attributes to the model, define inheritance and containment relationships, and define record keys. Pantero has robust support for Transformation, Validation, Aggregation, and Business rules. Also described are Pantero's data mapping, data service, testing, impact analysis, and documentation.
