SAP AG's Sahi Agassi, chief technology developer for SAP AG, comments regarding challenges facing SAP AG as the company works to bring applications and infrastructures into synchronization. Agassi comments on his every day duties following realignment and shifting of company product focus. Agassi says he and Peter Zencke, who has control of the SAP Business Process Platform initiative, are like inseparable twins inside BPP, with Peter doing the service enablement of applications and Agassi having created the platform infrastructure. BPP combines both. Agassi says Oracle's Project Fusion cannot be compared with SAP Enterprise Services architecture effectively because Oracles technology is not available, while ESA is. The two have different approaches currently, but when the technical ramifications are considered, SAPs emphasis is on providing organizations with the ability to quickly modify and fit their IT environment into the business processes and to allow business process innovation in the business. The aim is the cost and number of database servers. Microsoft has not built its code base in .NET, but SAPs model is to give customers the needed benefit resulting from the correct architecture and business sense. Innovations that can be expected from SAP will be shown at the Sapphire user conference, where the measurable value of ESA will be shown. Agassi believes that users are ready for BPP because they want to innovate with mega-processes that span the entire organization.
