Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 and Microsoft Information Bridge Framework work with Microsoft Office 2003 to make the Office 2003 System integrate with and complement the Windows Server System very effectively. ASP.NET 2.0 will expand the number of type of applications that can be used with Microsoft Web Forms architecture, and Office is also central to Microsoft's client strategy as the basis for Microsoft's information worker-centered smart client user experience, which moves beyond browsing. Information Bridge Framework is a new solution platform and toolkit that greatly streamlines and eases creation of Office solutions that integrate with back-end systems and show rich, dynamic data in Office task panes. Microsoft's Office-related applications, servers, and developer tools are now grouped under the Microsoft Office System moniker. The strategy will allow users to take action in context to allow them to, for instance, leverage server-side applications and resources while working within Microsoft Office Word and Excel documents and spreadsheets. Smart tag technology is a crucial component because it associates actions with text patterns. The most compelling value for application developers who want to use server-side resources begins with customized recognizers and action handlers. In Office 2003, Smart tag architecture has been expanded to inc new invocation options and customizable/programmable task panes. All the new abilities are managed through a new XML Expansion Pack model, and they build on Office 2003's in-depth support for XML and XML Schema. Key smart tag, smart document, and Research task pane attributes are listed, as is feature availability (for Smart tag technology, Smart documents, and Research task pane) by Office 2003 applications.
