Adobe Systems Adobe Form Manager 6.0, a product that assists with organization and management of forms, gets excellent marks for it interoperability with installed products in an application infrastructure, configurable hierarchical categorizing for publishing and searching, and straightforward integration with other Adobe products. However, testers found installation to be complicated, and deep security is only available for XDP forms. Required components include an IBM WebSphere or JBoss application server, a corporate directory, and an IBM DB2, Oracle, or MySQL RDBMS. The products required considerable configuration before they could run. Integration between Form Manager and other Adobe products is transparent, if Form Manager is informed during pre-installation configuration that other of Adobe Systems products are also extant on the system. Form Manager manages and publishes any type of file and provides significant value-add if the forms are XDP templates. Forms are published to a configurable hierarchical database repository, and access rights are based on directory or form. Forms can be assigned to multiple configurable categories. Form Manager can merge data with XDP forms, and users of Acrobat can continue to use the free reader because ReaderExtensionServer (RES 6.1) will unlock features for filling out forms and applying digital signatures. RES is a very good value.
