Autodesk's Autodesk Emergency Response Solution provides various applications that assist public safety workers and law enforcement in dealing with emergency situations. Applications can display the level of damage that can result from detonation of a specific quantity of explosives in an area. They can also integrate floor plans, addresses, photos, aerial imaging and other data. The Autodesk Emergency Response Solution can compute the number of gallons of water needed per minute for fighting a fire, and an emergency response guide is available with information regarding various chemicals, the effects of such chemicals, and correct alleviation actions to be taken. A person's line of sight can be estimated on a map, which is a useful feature for determining the target of a potential sniper. Users can add symbols on a map to show staging areas, command posts, hospitals, triage centers, and other locations. Chris Bradshaw of Autodesk says the Emergency Response Solution, which is based on Autodesk's MapGuide software, integrates computer-aided design databases that contain particularized building plans with geographical information system (GIS) software. The resulting product allows first responders to drill down to particular information, including locations of sprinkler systems and electrical panels. Florida officials have already mapped over 140,000 structures, and local governments also can create mirrors of a state site and add details specific to their communities.
