New methods for outputting and sharing of completed projects are provided that should go far to widen the already extensive popularity of Ulead Video Studio. Automatic editing features make Ulead Video Studio 8 competitive with autoProducer and MovieCreator. However, the automatic Movie Wizard is an additional feature that identifies badly lit or shot segments of a clip and removes them from the final production. Ulead Video Studio 8 also adds MPEG-4 output; SmartSound support; basic, automatic pan-and-zoom in slideshows; an old-time-style duotone feature; and support for the Neptune hosting and streaming service. Audio filters and easy picture-in-picture are provided. The pan-and-zoom does not seem to do the real-time preview and adjustment that is possible with Roxio Easy Media Creator .In addition to output as a DV-AVI file, users can make MPEG-1 and -2 files, along with RealVideo and WMV. Format can be output as NTSC or PAL.
