IBM's Costimator OEM is the company's latest software for the procurement process. IBM has been using Costimator for more than a year to cut procurement costs by streamlining its supply chain. IBM's supply chain matrix includes global manufacturing sites in numerous places, including North America, Scotland, and Germany. Product design, management processes, customer proposal creation, component sourcing, customer service, billing, accounts receivable, and aftermarket services comprise IBM's supply chain processes. In order to compare manufacturing costs globally, IBM deemed that it needed more predictable cost strategies. Costimator provided that service. Costimator's Material database stores and maintains data for raw stock that the company normally uses. With benchmarks in place, IBM can engage in rigorous negotiations with its suppliers. IBM will implement Costimator in other manufacturing applications.
