Ulead's Ulead DVD Workshop 2, the most recent release of the DVD authoring application, gets excellent marks. Ulead DVD Workshop 2 now has many professional features, beginning with support for DVD's eight audio and 32 subtitle tracks; a new subtitle editor; full 16:9 support; region coding; parental control; Dolby Digital support (stereo only on output); Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) encryption and Macrovision copy protection; DLT and DVD-9 support; and better design tools. Ulead DVD Workshop 2's feature set is now equivalent to those of more expensive tools, including such professional products as Apple DVD Studio Pro, Adobe Encore DVD, and Sonic ReelDVD. The look and feel of Ulead DVD Workshop 2 is largely unchanged, and support is provided for eight audio tracks per video clips. Able features are included for trimming audio to match video, matching audio duration to video, setting audio levels, and audio fade-in/out. However, users will want Ulead to add a timeline for doing such tasks, which will reduce the number of mouse clicks needed. Easy templates are provided for menu building, and users can also build all-new menus from scratch. The interface does not follow standard Windows conventions. Ulead DVD Workshop 2 is for all DVD authors, including beginners and professionals.
