Oracle's JDeveloper 10g excellent gets excellent marks, especially for usability, capability, performance, interoperability, manageability, scalability, and security. Scalability and security are rated good. JDeveloper 10g complements the 10g Database and Application Server, but also gives developers a clear path to any of several other application platforms, including BEA Systems WebLogic and open-consumer services from remote repositories, but such capabilities will not interfere with the other plans of developers. JDeveloper 10g puts a set of files in a directory and starts the root application that opens the full-functioned development environment. Therefore JDeveloper 10g is easy to acquire, try, and reject if it does not meet needs. The Technology Scope Feature of JDeveloper 10g permitted testers to reduce workspace clutter by building customized lists of the central technologies to be included in a specific project. Various stages of development are assisted by different views of work in progress, including diagrams, drag-and-drop interface builders, and hands-on source code editing. Testers could keep those views available concurrently while ensuring that they are consistent with the one most recently edited by the developer. JDeveloper 10g ran well on the test bed Windows 200 laptop with 256MB RAM.
