Setup and management are now less complex, and there is more support for new data types and large databases. Some management and analysis tools could be designed for easier use. Oracle Database 10g offers the choice between two control panels: the Java-based Enterprise Manager Console or the Web-based Enterprise Manager. During testing, users were impressed with the streamlined and practical tools provided for proactive database management. Oracle Database 10g's Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor will be a welcome tool for data center operators with its view into technical data gathered by the Automatic Workload Repository. Oracle Database 10g can be deployed on many scales and at various pricing, beginning at $800 and rising to $40,000 and up. On-site reports from early users say Oracle Database 10g provides valuable standards-based multimedia data type expansions with compelling usability. Oracle Database 10g also has a handy unified task scheduler and more fine-grained auditing tools for insert, update, and delete operations, and lowers the number of separate passwords for each user through integration of identity management and database provisioning features.
