Zone Labs' ZoneLabs Integrity 5.0, the most recent release of the software-based personal firewall for business enterprise deployment, gets very good marks overall. ZoneLabs Integrity 5.0 is a Windows-only application and has no support for UNIX, Linux, or Macintosh clients. Personal firewall protection in ZoneLabs Integrity 5.0 is robust, flexible, and scalable and supports instant messaging (IM) communications. Administrators can work from a central location to set, manage, and monitor security policies on end user systems. Late beta code testing shows ZoneLabs Integrity 5.0 to be easy to deploy, with many significant new features. For instance, Zone Labs has added ICQ support to its protocol-level IM protection module so that companies can use popular IM applications while concurrently reducing unacceptable use and stymying attempts to pass Trojan horses. More support is provided for 802.1x authentication, including certification from such companies as Enterasys Networks, Cisco, and Fun Software. Features of ZoneLabs Integrity 5.0 that were also in earlier releases include port stealthing and stateful firewall inspection. The Integrity environment, which is made up of client agents and a central server, allows administrators to use a handy Web-based interface to create, develop, and manage policies for users, groups, or IP ranges.
