Empirix's e-Test Suite 6.8 for testing of most enterprise Web applications in Windows environments gets very good marks, with excellent marks for capability and good marks for usability, performance, interoperability, manageability, scalability, and security. Visual scripting and the editing engine are stable, and broad-based standards support is provided. Integration among tools is good, but wizards should be added to streamline test setup. In addition, clients run only on Windows. Application interfaces are uncluttered and straightforward. The tools include the e-Tester Visual Scripts recorder for functional and regression Web testing, and the e-Tester module integrates with the e-Load module to generate Web loads for applications tress testing and scalability assessment. Empirix has made welcome improvements in debugging and editing, including a feature that allows testers to compare a page in a script with the display page in the Virtual User Results display so that problems can be more easily found. The e-Tester module offers good feedback by displaying results in the Playback Results Pane that show if the pages run by test scripts have passed or failed. The e-Tester module also has Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) reports that provide helpful statistics and permitted testers to swiftly drill down into failures during testing. Data gathered with ServerStats can be sent to the e-Reporter tool for in-depth analysis.
