Wacom Technologies Wacom Cintiq 18SX, an excellent display and tablet, is a robust and creative solution for computer graphics professionals. With its 18.1-inch, high resolution (1280x1024 SXGA) display, new Grip Pen Stylus, and a software bundle that includes Corel Painter Classic, Nik multimedia's penPalette, and Wacom brushes 1.0, the tablet also provides an adjustable stand that can be rotated as much as 180 degrees and tilted a maximum of 70 degrees. The stand allowed the user to move the tablet back and forth and to turn it to just about any angle. However, the user would prefer that the Cintiq be mounted on a more rigid armature. At 17 pounds, the Cintiq is not designed for holding in the lap for long work periods. However, many discomforts, including shoulder pain, were eliminated for the user because he could draw, paint, and preview images directly on the face of the Cintiq without leaning and reaching this way and that. The Cintiq's high resolution, sensitivity, and color accuracy of the Cintiq is preferable to other hardware, and signal input to the CPU can be with either a VGA/analog RBG or a DIVI/digital connection, which is faster. The fact that a right-handed person's hand hides the toolbar menu can be fixed by using the separately priced CintiqPartner tablet. When compared with other tablets and tablet PCs, the Wacom Cintiq offered a more comfortable and natural way for drawing and painting. With the Cintiq, the user did not have to rotate the image to change the angle of the stroke.
