The Naval Facilities Engineering Command (Navfac) is launching a composite application that will integrate legacy, Web, and Windows applications. The goal is to reduce delays and errors caused by redundant data. The new system will feature a single screen to access Windows-based procurement and mainframe financial systems. Navfac had planned an expensive enterprise-application-integration strategy, but was forced by budget cuts to look for a less expensive solution. Jacada Ltd.'s Fusion tolls were chosen to integrate its procurement and financial systems. Fusion allowed Navfac to crate a single layer of code that ties the systems together without rewriting business logic with a Web services interface. Jacada's competitors using similar approaches include ClientSoft, Seagull Software Systems, and WRQ. Users who need to use several different applications will find the most benefits from Fusion. If the project is successful, it could simply procurement processes throughout the Defense Department.
