KineMatik has raised another $2 million from private investors to advance commercialization of its Web-based Collaborative eR&D (CeR&D) platform called eNovator. CeR&D is an information technology framework that optimizes the effectiveness of research and development (R&D) Best practices to increase efficiency in problem solving and efficacy of problem selection. KineMatik partners with OpenText in a deal that has allowed KineMtik to include more features in the CeR&D framework, including Open Text's LiveLink knowledge management (KM) platform. KineMatik also works with Hybrid-3, a pharmaceutical IT consultancy, to manage IT-associated matters related to deployment of CeR&D solutions, and with LogicaCMG to integrate CeR&D in pharmaceutical and chemical sector products. KineMatik, which is presently concentrating on life sciences, says the nature of its collaborative eR&D approach means that the platform can be utilized to the advantage of any research organization. CeR&D, which is designed to enable systematic capture of knowledge obtained through research, uses consistent research- recording methods and makes data available in real time to all pertinent organizational levels. KineMatik has worked for a year with Roche to create a CeR&D solution that is being designed by KineMatik. The primary challenge was connecting the replacement for the paper laboratory notebook and the needs of research scientists with the management teams' requirements for managing costs, schedule, risk, and capacity.
