BEA Systems' BEA WebLogic Server and Sun Microsystems' Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8 were recently released, driving forward their Java application server initiatives. Oracle has chosen a different path by positioning its JDeveloper 10g for grid enablement. The partnership between BEA and VERITAS Software provides customers with utility computing. BEA's WebLogic Application Server will now work with three of VERITAS's products, namely VERITAS OpForce, VERITAS Indepth, and VERITAS Cluster Server. Sun's Java System Application Server Platform supports Version 1.4 of the J2EE specification. It is a low-end version of Sun's Java software. It supports Web Services Interoperability group's Basic Profile. Oracle's recent shipment of its JDeveloper 10g features grid enablement and support for services-oriented architecture methodologies.
