Wireless technologies are spreading to a number of uses and devices. Zensys's Z-Wave is a wireless protocol for home automation and control. Z-Wave, which operates on a 908.42-MHz radio frequency, goes from device to device and then returns to the host controller, such as a handheld device or a PC. Z-Wave may complement or replace the X10 protocol because Z-Wave devices have two-way communication and it complies with the Universal Plug and Play standard. PC-based X10 software HomeSeer can control both X10 and Z-Wave devices. Logitech Cordless Controller is a good wireless controller for such devices as the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC. Saitek WOW Wireless Adapter can receive two wired controllers, although it is only for PlayStations. Logitech offers a great cordless keyboard- and-mouse set that is also a Bluetooth hub. OpenPeak, an automation control startup, demonstrated music streaming from loudspeakers that were connected via wireless EtherNet. This technology saves music lovers from having to individually wire each room. Linksys has announced that it has the ability to pull music off users' PC hard drives via portable players. GN Netcom 6210 is a Bluetooth-enabled cordless headset. NextGen City has been rolling out its MeshNetworks' vehicle-to-vehicle communications technology in a Dallas suburb. Innovation is continuing to drive the wireless technology space.
