Forum Systems' XWall Web Services Firewall and Reactivity XML Firewall 2300 bolster firewalls with features that protect Web services based on World Wide Web Consortium's XML. These are the first observed firewalls that guard Web services by detecting XML viruses, parser attacks, and schema poison. Such features are needed to provide a guaranteed level of trust between enterprise Web services deployments and to encourage broad-based Web service deployment outside the enterprise. XWall Web services Firewall scans Web Services Description Language (WSDL) schemas and XML messages to find XML threats and prevent intrusion. The product is for the small- and mid-sized businesses (SMBs). It becomes aware of attacks by using knowledge of Web services operations, users, and XML and SOAP messages using signature threat-detection abilities. Reactivity XML Firewall 2300, which is for large-scale enterprise Web services service deployment security, is an appliance that adds multiple security policies that make Web services security more fine-grained. The Reactivity XML Firewall 2300 supports Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) termination and authentication for control of access to Web services. Testers were impressed with the ability of Reactivity XML Firewall 2300 to prevent destructive activity by conducting data validation on requests from external systems.
