Many vendors are introducing products to help companies comply with the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002, which imposes new financial reporting regulations on companies. Some of the act's provisions will require companies to make significant changes to their IT systems. Many companies are still trying to understand the requirements, but it is estimated that the Fortune 1000 companies will spend $2.5 billion in 2003 on IT upgrades, consulting, and business process changes. Among the vendors targeting the Sarbanes- Oxley market are specialists in business intelligence, content management, ERP, middleware, portals, collaboration, and business process management. Not all companies will need to find the same type of vendor. SAP is introducing Compliance Management, which works with mySAP Financials and mySAP ERP. Oracle is upgrading Oracle Treasury to meet Sarbanes-Oxley. IBM is offering bundles of software, hardware, and services. Other new products are IDS Scheer's Aris Sarbanes-Oxley Audit Manager, Nth Orbit's upgrades to Certus, SAS Corporate Compliance, PeopleSoft's Enterprise Internal Controls Enforcer, FileNet Records Manager, and Plumtree Sarbanes-Oxley Act Accelerator.
