Title: Zero G Buys Out ActiveInstall

Zero G Software has acquired ActiveInstall, and not long before, Wise Solutions purchased Altiris. Altiris and ActiveInstall are both installer software companies, and the acquisition of ActiveInstall gives Zero G a better position in the Windows installer market as a competitor to InstallShield and Altiris, says Kelly Abner, director of marketing and communications for Zero G. R. Michael Sanford, CEO of ActiveInstall, and a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional in the installer industry, will be the director of engineering for .NET installer products at Zero G. Zero G will continue its support of ActiveInstall customers. ZG will work to migrate them to the Zero G product line. Zero G has also announced release of Install Anywhere 6, the most recent version of its cross- platform installer suite, which now permits users to span installation data across more than one CD or DVD. Developers also can install Linux RPMs, Solaris packages, and HP-UX depot files as part of the installation. Apache Ant can control the InstallAnywhere build process.
